VentureCrew85.org launched
Today, the official website for the Venturing Crew 85 of Dixon, IL, was launched. Included in the features are a calendar of events, contact information for the officers, news about what's going on, information on how to join, and much more!
Please check back often, and if you are already a member of this crew, be looking for information on accessing the member's section of this site.
Any questions or comments should be directed to the Webmaster, Matthew Fuger, at webmaster@venturecrew85.org.
FAQ Questions Needed!
Since the launching of this website two days ago, I have made a number of improvements, most of them small. However, I would like to create a Frequently Asked Questions (or FAQ for short) page for people interested in learning more about Venturing and our crew. This is where I need your help.
Please submit to me any questions that people have asked you often about Venturing. You don't have to have the answers to all of your questions, but if you do, please submit that as well. Don't hold back, either! Once I have enough questions, I will compile them all and post the page.
There are 2 ways to submit questions:
1. Click Here and fill out the form.
or
2. Send an email directly to me at webmaster@venturecrew85.org.
Please put FAQ Questions in the subject line.
Thanks!
New Feature -- Bulletin Board!
If you are a registered user, there is now a new utility available -- the Bulletin Board.
The Bulletin Board is where you will find announcments like the recent one about the date change for Maquoketa caves. Also there is a forum for personal announcements like birthdays, holiday parties, etc. Please check it out, get yourself a name, and start posting! Just log in and click Bulletin Board and go!
New York pictures posted
Pictures from the bicycling trip to New York are now posted under "Photo Albums." (Where else, right?)
Enjoy!
Update November 6: New York pictures are now viewable using the "slide show" format as well. :)

Haunted Maze and Bonfire
Crew 85 went to the Haunted Maze on Friday night. They had a frightfully good time while trying to lose crew members, find their way out and get by the odd collection of horror creatures roaming the maze. The mud and puddles made it more interesting as everyone tried to keep their footing on the slick trails. The group started out together, but John, Tiffany and Crystal (guest) lost the rest of the crew. Neil and Pat lead on through the maze with Marcy, Terry and Bridgette (guest) in tow. Everyone eventually made it out of the Maze safely. Pat won a t-shirt by hitting the rooster with a corn cob fired from an air powered cannon, and while Neil gave it his best shots, he came up empty. After riding the horse drawn wagon eveyone went to Terry's for a bonfire.
Maquoketa Caves Campout
On Nov. 5,6,and 7 of 2004, Terry, Lynn, Sylvia, Pat, John, Tiffany, and myself (Neil) went spelunking at Maquoketa Caves State Park. We arrived at our first camp site (Horseshoe Park) on Friday night at about 9:00 PM. While looking for the latrines and clean water, we stumbled upon a certian feline friend (later named "The Dude"). With no help from him as to where the water was, we decided to stay one night and move to another camp ground. The next morning(Saturday) we woke up, tore down camp, and moved to our next location, Eden Valley Refuge. There we found clean bathrooms with lights, "clean" water, and an area to camp. After breakfast, we drove to Maquoketa Caves State Park and proceded to find the smallest, longest, and muddiest caves we could. Near the end of the day, we found the Jackpot! A cave where the entrance was strait down and the muddiest poeple emerging from it. Three of us went including John, Tiffany, and myself. After our adventrue, we went back to camp and had ourselves a most deserved dinner and then went to bed. The next morning (Sunday) we tore down camp, packed up and headed home. We all had a great time!
